MUSIC PRODUCTION 11: Removing Pops with Automation in Logic

This is a method I use to subtly and precisely remove low frequency pops, the bane of all vocal performances.

This was an over-emphasised (plosive) on the letter P, the consonant at the end of a word in a vocal take which was otherwise great.

To begin, insert Channel EQ as a plugin and then click A to enter Automation mode.

Follow the mouse in the video and try it on a piece of audio to practise.

When you start listening back you can modify the outline of the automation to make it blend, always seeking to only carve out the minimum required.

To use this method to remove high frequency crackles or scrapes choose the High Cut Frequency in the Channel EQ automation list instead, and then create the nodes and drag the level down at the spot.
