NOTATION 38: Handy Diagrams for Reading, Recording and Arranging
Reference diagrams are useful in the way that a dictionary (or a calculator or an AI bot) is when you have an idea but the data is not memorised yet.
Making diagrams to summarise large data sets is one way of helping this process along. This is the case with Diagram 1.
They are even more helpful if you need the data occasionally but don’t rely on it from day to day.This is the case with Diagram 2 & 3.
